Pool Repair Update

On June 4, 2026, a significant leak was discovered in the underground pipe that carries filtered water from the pump house to the pool. The leak was severe enough to flood the pump house basement and damage the pool pump beyond repair.

The pipe was inspected by Sewer Pro using a camera system. After evaluating the damage, the company determined that the pipe can be rehabilitated using an epoxy resin lining process. This repair method will restore the pipe while allowing the pool to reopen in the shortest possible timeframe.

At a special council meeting held on June 9, Council authorized the repairs. The cost to reline the pipe and replace the pool pump is approximately $20,250. Additional expenses are anticipated for a replacement flange and other miscellaneous materials needed to complete the project.

The pipe relining is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17. Village employees will install the new pump the same day, and the pool will begin refilling Wednesday evening. This schedule will allow time to test the system and balance the water chemistry, with the goal of reopening the pool on Saturday, June 20.

How You Can Help

The $20,250 repair expense was unexpected and was not included in the Village's budget. Fortunately, residents have already begun stepping forward to help. One generous citizen has contributed $5,000 toward the repairs, and additional donations of any amount are welcome.

Village Council recognizes that the municipal pool is a valuable community resource and voted to move forward with the repairs so that families can continue to enjoy the facility this summer. However, admission fees alone do not generate enough revenue to cover the pool's operating and capital expenses. Over the years, the Village and generous community donors have helped bridge that gap.

If you would like to contribute toward the repair costs, please make checks payable to the Village of Pemberville and note "Pool" or "Pool Repair" in the memo line. Donations may be dropped off at Town Hall, placed in the Town Hall drop box, or given to any Council member.

Thank you for your continued support of the Pemberville Community Pool.
